    eat that frog-2

While I was in Costa Rica I finished reading EAT THAT FROG! by Brian Tracy. I always thought it had a funny title, but it makes perfect sense. The “frog” is the big, sometimes ugly, thing we have to do to get the job done. It is usually the thing that is making us procrastinate. You know. That thing on your “to do” list that you have been dreading and keep putting off.

Brian Tracy writes: “Mark Twain once said that if the first thing you do each morning is to eat a live frog, you can go through the day with the satisfaction of knowing that that is probably the worst things that is going to happen to you all day long. Your “frog” is your biggest, most important task, the one you are most likely to procrastinate on if you don’t do something about it.”

Here are his two rules on the subject:
“The first rule of frog eating is this: If you have to eat two frogs, eat the ugliest one first.”

“The second rule of frog eating is this: If you have to eat a live frog at all, it doesn't pay to sit and look at it for very long.”

The book is full of great advice on letting go of procrastination. Are you having trouble reaching your goals? Eat That Frog may be a colorful enough illustration to help you overcome avoidance.

What “frog” do you have to eat this week?
