The Writing Mindset: 3 Easy Steps to Get Back Into It

Getting back into the writing mindset can be challenging, especially if you have a busy schedule. Between family commitments, a full-time job, and other responsibilities, diving into your passion again might seem like an uphill battle.

But it doesn’t have to be.

3 EASY STEPS TO GET BACK INTO THE WRITING MINDSET

STEP 1: Find a nook.

You’d be surprised how much of our creativity is dependent on our environment. Before you write, create a comfy and distraction-free environment for yourself. Then watch your productivity skyrocket.

STEP 2: Carve out the time.

Let’s be honest. Writing takes time. If you want to get back into the writing mindset, you’ll need to comb through your schedule and carve out some dedicated writing time. See when you can squeeze writing into your calendar and don’t book anything else at that time. If you can find a course or workshop to sign up for, even better.

STEP 3: Join a community.

Find a Facebook group or an online writing class where you can join other writers and get in the zone. A community will keep you accountable and help you get back into the writing mindset.

THE ONLY REAL WAY TO GET BACK INTO THE WRITING MINDSET

At the end of the day, the only way to get back into the writing mindset is to sit down and write. Mark my words — a distraction-free environment, a slot in your schedule, and a connected community will make that commitment much easier.
