Interview with Jean Ann Reuter

Oodles of Love is a children’s book that teaches children how to believe in themselves and think positive thoughts.

Jean Ann Reuter is the Founder and CEO of TrainPeople.com, Inc. and Heart Centered Education Publications, Inc. having written such success as Oodles of Love and University for Women.

How long have you been an author and what inspired you to start writing? I became a best-selling author last November.  I have been writing most of my life through my career as an owner of an Instructional Design company.  It was always a dream of mine to write a children’s book since I was in college.  I was inspired to actually write the book, during a ‘Come as you will be’ party at Jack Canfield’s Train-the-Trainer in February of 2014.  I meditated the day after the party and the name of the book came to me and about 2 weeks later, I wrote the book.

What is a book that impacted you as a child? Many children’s books have impacted me, but it wasn’t until I took a Children’s Literature Course in college.  The Maurice Sendak's book ‘Where the Wild Things Are’ and the Curious George books have always been favorites.

What is your Favorite book now? Harry Potter Books

What is your favorite thing about being an author? I love how I am able to help inspire children and others to believe in themselves.

What was your biggest challenge about becoming an author?  Taking the first step and being a self-published author.  I did not realize how hard it is to market the book and get others to believe in your message.  I still work full time in my business and have found it difficult to find the time to market my book.

Any tips for aspiring authors out there?  I think if this is a dream, and you want to write a book that will inspire others, you need to go for it.  There are lots of resources available to you to self-publish.  Making a dream come true that helps others is sometimes the biggest accomplishment you can make to the world.  Just do it!

What are you working on next? I am working on a book of inspirational poems that I have written over the past 4 years.   The poems have gotten me through a difficult time in my personal life and I am writing a story that goes with each poem.  It identifies my feelings, thoughts and inspirations on how to get through difficult times.  I have also written my 2nd and 3rd children’s books, which I hope to publish in the next couple of years.
