Transparent Pricing at Miriam Laundry Publishing: A Clear Breakdown

Publishing your children’s book shouldn’t feel mysterious—especially when it comes to cost. At Miriam Laundry Publishing (MLP), our goal is simple: give you a clear, plain‑language view of what you’re paying for, what you’re not, and how to choose the path that fits your story, budget, and timeline.

Why pricing transparency matters

If you’ve researched publishing options, you’ve probably seen a mix of opinions about “hybrid publishing.” That’s why we built a model that keeps you in the driver’s seat: selective standards, professional quality, clear deliverables, and conversations in everyday language. Your story deserves that level of care.

What you’re paying for (and what you’re not)

Every strong book is built on four pillars:

  • Professional editing. In our flagship program, you’ll receive three rounds of editing to shape your text into a read‑aloud children love.
  • Design & production. We handle interior layout and cover design so your book looks and feels professional from first page to last.
  • Coaching & project management. We guide your steps, keep you on timeline, and make decisions easier with experienced publishing advice.
  • Launch planning. We prepare your Amazon setup and provide a practical marketing plan so you’re not releasing into the void.

What’s typically not included: Illustration and printing. We separate these on purpose: you get to choose the art style and production path that match your vision and budget, without paying for things you don’t need.

Our programs at a glance

Picture Book Editing Package (Done‑for‑you editing)
Want a professional editorial boost without a full program? Our Editing Package includes a manuscript analysis, a structural edit, and a copy edit—three focused passes to level up your story.

What shapes your total budget (so you can plan with confidence)

Your final spend depends on a few choices you control:

  • Illustration: Style, complexity, and illustrator experience influence quotes. We’ll help you source and compare options so your visuals match your vision and your budget.
  • Editing depth: If your manuscript needs extra development time, we’ll advise you upfront.
  • Format & print choices: Hardcover vs paperback, full color, trim size, and print method (short‑run print‑on‑demand vs bulk) each affect costs and margins.
  • Distribution decisions: We set you up with the tools you need; you decide how wide you want to go and at what timeline.

How our quotes work (and why authors say it feels different)

  1. Discovery: We learn your goals, timeline, and budget comfort.
  2. Scope: We outline inclusions/exclusions in plain language.
  3. Written proposal: You get a clear, itemized document showing deliverables, timeline milestones, and payment options.
  4. No surprises: If something changes, we address it together—before work begins.

Frequently asked questions

“Why isn’t illustration included by default?”
Art is one of the biggest variables in a picture book. Keeping it separate lets you choose the exact style and price point you want—without paying for a generic bundle.

“Will I keep the rights to my book?”
Yes. With our hybrid model, you retain ownership of your story and characters. Always.

“Is distribution guaranteed?”
We set your book up for distribution access (including hardcover via IngramSpark). Retail placement is always at the discretion of retailers and wholesalers.

“How fast can I publish?”
Our Publishing Mastermind is structured to help most first‑time authors publish within a year, with checkpoints and coaching that keep the process on track.
