Martha Jane Bonine
Martha Jane Bonine’s fascination with penguins began when she wrote a science report on Adelie Penguins in fourth grade. Motivated to see penguins in their native habitat, she visited Antarctica in December 2024. Observing their playful antics sparked the idea for A Magical Summer Day.
An elementary educator for many years, Martha has always been an advocate for children and their families. She is an Antarctic Ambassador, giving presentations to senior citizens, civic clubs, and elementary students. Currently, Martha lives in Council Bluffs, Iowa, where she fills her life with photography, gardening, travel, and volunteering for the Explorers’ Parent/ Teacher Organization at Lewis & Clark Elementary.
