Jean Nishimura
Jean Miki Nakashioya Nishimura is an Intervention Teacher. She holds an MA in Education and a Specialist Instruction in Reading and Language Arts Credential. She works as a Retirement Planning Advisor in the financial industry. Jean is an alumna of UCLA and CSUN.
As an author of the children’s picture book, The Head in the Clouds Duckling, she is able to inspire children to celebrate each other’s differences and to embrace their own special gifts. Her second book stems from the belief that helping children remember the joy of working on a special gift will carry them through the challenges they face, while pursuing their dreams.
Music has filled her home since early childhood. The passion of playing the piano continued into her adult life. She and her son mastered the range of piano levels of the Music Teachers’ Association of California, and they were presented with Branch Honors.
She values her time spent with friends and family, including extended family in Japan. Their family pet dogs, Rocket and Hinoki, bring much joy to her family.
