Breakthrough to Success with Teens

I just came back from spending an amazing week assisting Jack Canfield at Breakthrough to Success (BTS) in Arizona. This year I was so happy to bring my two teenage daughters with me. I've learned so much from Jack over the years. I've always had it in mind to bring my children as soon as they were old enough.

Alissa, at 14 years old, was the youngest participant.

My girls learned a LOT. I barely got to see them between my responsibilities in assisting and their friends, but some of the things they were absorbing were:

  • practicing self-love with the mirror exercise
  • how to reject rejection - don't take no for an answer
  • take 100% responsibility for your life
  • letting go of limiting beliefs that have been stopping you
  • how to do affirmations and visualizations
  • the importance of keeping agreements to others and to yourself
  • setting goals in all areas of life

So, what were the highlights? I asked them what they really loved about the trip.
For Sarina, meeting a music producer who gave her great tips on how to pursue a music career. Of course! One of the really great things about attending is meeting other people who you can help and who can also help you!
For Alissa, besides meeting the other teens attending, she said she got a lot out of the goal setting portion.

My highlight was something Alissa said after Jack interviewed me on stage about past successes and our new book, The Big, Bad Bully. (After attending BTS in 2012 I wrote the first draft to my book on the flight back. So many good things came out of that like my Guinness World Record, subsequent award-winning books, and so much more.)

Afterwards, Alissa said “I didn’t know you were successful!” Up until that point I am sure she only ever saw me as her unpaid Uber Driver. She even said I was “kinda cool.”

We had an amazing week. Sarina is pumped to go back next year, and it was clear that Alissa made strong connections with the new friendships. If you get the chance, I would definitely recommend taking your teens to one of Jack’s events.
