Best Social Media Platform for Authors

When it comes to deciding which social media platforms to use, you need to find a balance between using a platform you’re comfortable with and reaching your target audience.

Last week, I made a post all about finding your target audience. If you missed it, you can check it out HERE.

Overall, it’s important to have fun on your social media. The more fun it is for you, the more you’ll be able to connect with your audience.

However, you also need to make sure you’re reaching the right people. For example, if you’re trying to reach teens, you’ll be much better off using Instagram over Facebook.

Here’s a quick overview of the top social media platforms:

Facebook — it’s currently the most-used social media platform. It’s primarily used by adults over 25.

Instagram — this platform is all about photos & captions. A lot of teens and young adults are on Instagram.

Twitter — with Twitter, you have a restricted character count, so your posts need to be short and sweet. It’s a great place to connect with educators, journalists, etc.

TikTok — This platform is growing FAST. Lots of children and youth are on TikTok, making short videos with music in the background.

Remember that social media trends are always changing. Even though Facebook was really popular a few years ago, the younger generations are hardly using it now.

To make sure you’re using the best platform, make sure you stay up to date on where your target audience is the most active.

At the end of the day, if your social media platform is fun and allows you to connect with your target audience, then it’s the BEST social media platform for you to use.
